Roads have shoulders.
Cows give us the Shoulder Roast.
Of course you have a “cold shoulder.”
Who can live without “Head and Shoulders” shampoo?
Shoulder Patches are worn to identify a unit a soldier belongs to.
The most important use of a shoulder is one used for someone else to lean on or for “crying on one’s shoulder.” Having said that it does help for the shoulder to be connected to a body; otherwise it would be quite painful.
Thoughts began running through my energized brain.
Meaningful thoughts such as who do we lean on when there are no shoulders around?
What do we do when life hits us with a swinging bat and no one is there to stop it?
How do we cope when our corner of the world becomes a backboard?
How do people who don’t know Jesus survive?
There comes that time in every person’s life when no human can fulfill us.
There comes that time when there are no options; just a brick wall.
There are times when we are left alone. Completely alone.
When there is nothing left, where do you go?
“I need You Jesus
To come to my rescue
Where else can I go
There’s no other name by
Which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You.”
Jesus lends his shoulders when the bats are flying and the brick walls stop us.
When no one is around, he is.
When we think it is all over, he has just begun.
When life hits back, he catches us.
When we have nowhere to go, he offers his cross.
It is one thing to not know Jesus exists. It is another to reject him.
Really, honestly, imagining how the lost get through one day is incomprehensible.
Not having him to go to would be a life of total meaninglessness.
If you aren’t going to him on a regular basis, then where else can you go?
