Why is everyone so mean?

In all my 62 years on this earth I have never known people to be so mean and hateful.

Sure, there have always been bullies but not to the extent there is today. It has become extreme and belligerent.bully

As one who was always smaller than most of those in my class age group, I was picked on a lot. Many gave me nicknames like, “little bit” or “shorty’ or “redhead” but it was rare the accusations were directed to annoy or offend me. That isn’t the case today.

We have become a society of loathing and abhorrence because of a lack of discipline, not to mention the enemy has been on a roaring rampage for decades.  That’s no excuse. We have to change this hostile atmosphere.

My daughter was going through a lot during her younger years. As a child of a single parent in an area where divorce had not hit to the high percentage rates of today, she was bullied by a classmate. She was only 6 or 7 when this young girl began insulting and tormenting her along with a few of her miserable friends. For a while, I paid little attention to her complaints. As time passed, it was quite noticeable she wasn’t making any of this up.

My concern grew to a breaking point when I would pick her up from school only to find her crying. She was already dealing with enough without the harassment of an obviously spoiled and jealous child.

The next day I called the principal and asked to meet with her teacher along with the student in question. The appointment was made for that afternoon.

The teacher, appeared to have no idea at all this had been happening. In fact, she made it clear to me this child I was accusing was a perfect student with top grades but so was my daughter. Only my daughter wasn’t hateful and mean to the other students.  The bully watched me speaking to her teacher with total dread in her eyes.

She knew she had been caught. It was apparent she played the innocent, sweet child with the teacher but treated others with distaste and mockery when the teacher wasn’t around.

I made it clear to the teacher what wasn’t going to happen any more and if it did there would be consequences for her and the student. The teacher allowed me to speak directly to the bully. She sheepishly approached me as I laid the groundwork for future classes with my daughter and that she would never again speak to her much less bully her. I told her I knew exactly what she was doing and to stop it immediately. I  told her  I would not hesitate to call her mother and inform her of her obstinate behavior and get a restraining order against her. The child left the room with the fear of God in her by the time I finished. The teacher was very appreciative of my visit but also quite aware that I meant business.

That child never bothered my daughter again.

For years, many childish bullies like this one have been getting away with their distasteful rhetoric and in some cases violence. We have laws that haven’t been enforced but should be that would help close the door on such vile conduct.

The decision I made to handle this the way I did, came about after much prayer and seeking God for answers as to how to deal with it. As a nation, we need to be searching God’s heart for His guidance to find solutions to steer people in His direction.

NO one gets away with anything. Any maybe that needs to be preached on every street corner in America.

America, Bless Israel Now!

Hear ye, hear ye! America wake up!

It is no laughing matter the state of the union we are living in today. Our country has imploded itself to evil unlimited. We have strayed so far from God we have no choice but to return. You would have thought 9/11 would have been more of a wake-up call than it was. Now we are literally shaking.

This present government has done everything in its power to undermine Israel. And for America that is almost the last straw where God is concerned.

America was founded on Godly principals no matter what atheists or agnostics say. And for the record those who claim such a position have yet to win the argument, “how can you fight against something you don’t believe in?”

We must repent. We must support Israel. We must remove the evils we have allowed to enter. We must get over ourselves.

Recently a 4 hour mini-series titled “The Dovekeepers” was on TV. Roma Downey and husband Mark Burnett made the movie based on the story of the “Masada.” Adding some Hollywood to the movie it was a love story; and a reflection of the Jews in 70 A.D. and the Roman Empire. Besides the history it portrays it also reveals the sins of Israel. You may find yourself in one of the actors.

Without being a “spoiler” I hope you will find a copy of this film and watch it. Understand it is based on truth.  Read the true story of the “Masada” and how the people of God at that time in history survived.

Below is a short video of Israel including the Masada. I hope you will watch it.

Oh, Woe is me….

.

This will be my last post for a while.

My Dell laptop is sick. She has been through home testing with Dell agents and the decision was made she needs a hospital visit.

My hope was a new adapter would aid in the charge recovering to 100% but of course that didn’t happen. Now the doctor believes the motherboard is suffering and may need surgery.

As soon as I received this heartbreaking news, WITHDRAWAL SET IN LIKE MAXI POUNCING ON A MOUSE.

My beloved laptop is sitting on my lap as I type this post. The people at Dell have no idea what it will be like for us to be apart; and possibly a few weeks. Besides the many uses she offers I simply cannot write/blog on my phone or Mark’s ipad. At least they are substitutes to some degree until she returns.

I don’t believe in coincidences but after not feeling like writing this book I am supposing to be writing for the last year, I began to do so a week  or so ago. And then…..that was when I noticed it wasn’t charging completely. Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm……….

However there may be a slight silver lining. God may be allowing us to be apart to break my addiction?

What is the saying, “you never know what you miss until you don’t have it?”

In that line of thinking I impose the great writer, the Apostle Paul.

I have had a picture in my mind of him sitting at an ancient desk in the middle of a prison writing the gospels. With his parchment paper, quill pen and ink jar he wrote some of the greatest books ever written.

He didn’t know what computers were. Nor pens and paper as we have today. Forget erasers or whiteout; he didn’t even have electricity for lighting. God supplied what he needed to pursue writing words that have survived centuries.

He probably didn’t miss what he never had. How can one miss what doesn’t exist?

Yet he managed to compose the Holy Spirit’s words in the simplest forms. I wonder if he had any idea of the magnitude of his prison sentence.

What appeared to be horrible conditions kept him in one place, under one roof without distractions to perform God’s will on earth. And without a Dell.

“I will be back.”

Why don’t you tear up your Bible?

I asked my husband the other day if I could tear up his Bible.

“What?”??????????

“You know the Amplified Bible sitting on your bedside table? You aren’t reading it and mine has fallen apart so I want to tear yours up now.”

He gave me a leather bound New Living Translation back a few years ago which now sits as a used antique on the front desk.  I loved that Bible but it began falling apart so we got a New International hard back that is no longer in one piece.

As I stole his I reminded him that he most likely won’t ever see it again; nor will it be readable. His job keeps us filled with every kind of pen, pencil and Sharpee available. He gave me 4 new gel highlighters so his Bible will be filled with color.

This in no way is a self-aggrandizement or the “bragging rights” of a Pharisee.

More than anything it is the desire to read God’s word out of need to be more like Jesus. Anxiety and stress also add to opening the pages so hopefully I won’t make the stupid choices and mistakes as in the past; including yesterday.

Wisdom and knowledge are waning in people. Not that we had a great deal to begin with but the outright ignorance that spouts out of the mouths of supposedly intelligent and educated Americans is beyond belief.
To be honest, one has to wonder how many of them know what day it is.

The Bible is more than just God’s word. It is the Creator of the Universe speaking.

He has inspired the pages; written his whispers of infinite information that only he knows.

He has graced each letter, number, name, place and event as codes of seasons and space.

The past, present and future was written from beginning to end giving history a timetable endorsed by Heaven.

When you read his words acknowledging him, a natural supernatural experience grows from your heart.

The more you ponder or meditate upon this eye-opening book, his divine character becomes your thoughts, your wishes and aspirations. He begins a journey of planting who we are into his existence.

The chapters and verses he has handed to humanity are a culmination of Jesus; the Christ risen. Within his person reigns the only life worth living.

Through the torn pages of a Bible are remnants of a life changed; sealed and stamped with the blood of one who makes all the difference.

His words become our life so we can become rivers of living water for others.

Living Life Up Side Down

After Christmas seemed to be a good time to attack some changes in home “decor.” Re-arranging only comes with a mood to make adjustments especially when it comes with dusting.  The incentive arrives when the mind becomes weary with no change. Like everything else, the rooms we live in need a little upgrade or re-positioning.

Over the years we either have collected books, inherited books or bought books. A good library is a plus especially when it adds to the “design” but more importantly is a “good read” for knowledge, wisdom or just for fun. Getting away in a John Grisham book is an adventure into the legal world of Mississippi Justice.

Underneath our big screen TV in the den is a book lover’s display dream. Stack them, give them some bookends, or add some flair. Books from family hold special meaning even if “Little Women” or the “Bobbsey Twins” fight over the front row seat.

4 of my college yearbooks were taking up space on a nearby table.
Moving them above the National Geographic’s and Anne of Green Gables looked like a perfect fit.upside

Hurriedly I finished and headed for the kitchen to fix dinner.

There are some people that need a good slap upside the head. These are the ones who enter a room and find the one piece of “style” out of place.

While rushing to finish (so I could make dinner for that someone) I mistakenly placed one yearbook upside down.

Even as orderly and dust-free as the entertainment center was that was never mentioned.

Making it clear to me the yearbook was wrongly positioned I shrugged it off AS I CLEANED THE KITCHEN!

The next morning I poured me a hot cup of New Orleans Famous French Market Dark Roast coffee and sat down in my swivel chair to have a conversation with God.

As I began to enjoy a moment of peace it stared at me.  The upside down yearbook stood out like a book out of place. Of course I would accidentally picked the one of the four that is the most noticeable.

Ignoring the need to make it right, I continued my warm cup of coffee with the Creator.

Turning my chair away from the books kept my mind on what I was doing but not long. After that I swiveled back around only to find the upside down book still upside down.

I guess the “book police” hadn’t received my memo to do something
about this blunder but I surely wasn’t going to fix it.
upside down

Why wasn’t I going to fix it? I didn’t want to bother? It wasn’t my job? Then…..who was going to flip it?

No one.  Some things need not to be changed.

That still small voice spoke, “Leave it. Let it be a reminder every time you feast your eyes upon it of your flaws; your mistakes; your inaccuracies. And then remember who fixed them.”

Enough said.

John 16: 33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (AKJV)

Can’t find your keys? or the Remote? what about your brain?

One of the great novelties about God is he really is interested in every detail of our lives. I am convinced he loves flare.

Joyce Meyer writes about how she is always losing her keys.  She was in a rush to get out of the house only to have no idea where she placed her keys. She stopped and prayed. In her heart God showed her where the keys were.

Another time she was having guests over. The remote control to the TV was no where to be found. She prayed,

Holy Spirit, show me where the remote control is, please.”

God gave her a Word of Knowledge and led her to the remote.

If you have family members like me who forget to put their brain in first gear,  do as Joyce and I do.

Pray for God to reveal where they lost it! LOL!   It works.

Just imagine. If God gives us his time for our own forgetfulness of such trivialities, how much more do you think he wants to communicate with us about that which is important?

John 14: 26 “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

Stories within the Story: The Bible

People have asked me,the Bible

“What is so interesting in the Bible? What does it say to you that it doesn’t say to me? It’s just plain boring.”

I use to think the same way. The family Bible is often table decor.  Smaller ones ride along in the car or your purse, but are never opened.

Hearing how “words” or phrases would jump off the page seemed ridiculous to me or impossible. Who came up with that idea anyway?

God.

He made the Bible a living, active, breathing soul. (Hebrews 4:12)

Curiosity can be risky, but not in this case. When life throws you a ripple effect of misfortune and wretchedness over and over, finding answers becomes a priority.

I knew where to look so I dove in headfirst.

Not knowing what I was looking for, what to read or where to start asking God for help seemed appropriate. Once I began and nothing happened, it was easy to get bored or more unbelieving than at first. Persistence pays off in other areas of life so I made up my mind to make it a daily habit. That’s right, I said “habit.”

As time passed, days, weeks, months of soaking myself in God’s word, I began to notice my thinking was different. Unusual concepts or ideas flooded my brain. Questions showed up I had never thought to ask. Inspirational meditations became motivation for me to continue this practice.

I remember a moment of “now I know there is more to this life and I know what it is.”

The capacity of wisdom, knowledge, prophetic insight and foresight in the Bible is infinite.

If you haven’t discovered there is another world out there that is real and empty of aliens, then you should.

The earthly existence we share is minor compared to what God has for us in the supernatural.  We are truly just passing through.

The first time I experienced a “rhema” or words that literally jump off the page it was surreal. The words appeared for an instant to be hovering in the air, or glowing.  Usually this occurs at a time of answered prayer or to give direction. Believe me, you know it when it happens.

The word “logos” means word or Jesus.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.”

Jesus was and is the word. Since Jesus is alive, so is his word.

As an avid reader most of my life, reading words that truly come alive was a brand new experience. There is no other book that does this.

As I have written before, what began as a “habit” is now the greatest adventure I have ever been on.

Getting in tune with the Holy Spirit as your guide, he will take you through the Creation of the world to the Lion’s Den only to end up having a life changing event at Easter every year.

There is so much to learn across the pages of the Bible.

I am so sure reading, studying and praying over God’s word as often as possible is the reason we are here.  Why?

Every page, word or verse leads us to the focal point of the Master Designer.

And the Master Designer gives credence for everything on the face of this earth and heaven above.

There are Meetings and then there are Meetings

What is important to one person may not be important to the next person.

If it isn’t important to one person, should they reject it?

The person who thinks it important may want to share it with the person who thinks otherwise. Should they?

Depending on who is involved the process is a learning curve.

Variety is one of God’s great character traits.

The opportunity to learn from others must have been part of his plan considering we are all unique.

What happens when the difference becomes a contrasting point of indifference?broccoli

We are not all Star Trek fans, broccoli lovers or enjoy “Wuthering Heights.”

Some like football; others wouldn’t watch it unless they were paid to.

There are readers, spellers and mathematicians; not necessarily all together.

And then of course are the Biblical believers, non-believers, scholars and denominations.

The end result can be a balancing act of give and take. Or not.

People who are alike may not suffer the trenches of diversity, but the array of knowledge would be limited.

danish-very-long-table

“Opposites attract” is a common cliche’. With it comes a baggage of alternative opinions, misunderstandings and a very long table for a meeting of the minds. However, the opportunity to discover new ideas, receive gifts of wisdom from each other and bond in one another’s knowledge is unlimited.

In close relationships it is imperative to find common ground for success.  It ain’t always easy.

Selfishness gets in the way of making it work.  Understanding where the other person is coming from is vital and the only way to that conclusion is open and honest communication.

Communication is easier for some, and a blank for others which is a whole different blog. But, it must be a priority for the relationship to survive and be peaceful.

Times will come when we have to give of ourselves to enjoy what others are interested in even if we aren’t. Doing so will give them the notion to return the favor.  But, a great addition to relationships that works is simply giving them space to be who they are.  Creative abilities flow and can produce an unexpected interest from the other parties.

More than anything is no matter whether you are alike or opposites, the Holy Spirit of God should be the center of any relationship.  The Godly presence will ultimately connect the two spirits (assuming they are Christian) bringing the center around Jesus.

Psalm 37: 4”Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

God will do the miraculous when he is the focus.  Placing him first gives him the go-ahead to offer his ideas and desires for those involved.  The result aids in learning how to remove the selfish or self-centered processes that cause fights and arguments. Why?

When we allow God’s ambitions for us to surface, applying them pleases him. The neutrality it brings cannot be matched.

Then you can trade in that long table for a shorter one.short table
