It isn’t about me.
Matthew 20:28 “And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
That verse pretty much sums it all up. God bless.

Hey Cathy! Love your site. I’m new to blogging. Thanks for stopping by my site. I decided to jump in and keep a diary of public sorts to help keep me on my toes with my goals. After seeing your site, I might have to consider getting a little more creative! Have a great Holiday Season

Toby, I have found blogging to be the best way to journal my thoughts. In the process, my prayer is that God will give me words to say that might touch someone else to encourage their walk with him or to find him to start with. So far, it is working. Merry Christmas!

Really love your site and always enjoy reading what you have to post. I feel like I know you based on your profile and thanks for sharing your most ultimate personal details about yourself. I really admire that because I have a hard time letting people see me as you may have noticed I have never posted any personal pics of myself just my babies (doggies). You inspire me and I hope to be where you are now with your relationship w/God.
I wonder just annoy God gets with me because I can be difficult to be around with so God has an enormous amount of patience with me.
Thanks for being there for me it means a lot to me.

I have often felt I must be a pain to God; it seems to take me such a long time to learn things! But he is so merciful and understanding; much more so than we are with each other.
Life is a work in progress. Oh, how I wish we could wave a magic wand and it would all fall into place. That may end up boring though. One thing for sure, walking with God is not boring.
Take it one day at a time. I have had to learn how not to beat myself up for the mistakes I make. We are usually a lot harder on ourselves than God is.
I read a blog recently that I wish I could find. It was about “speaking to our mountains.” If we continue to tell the mountains to move, one day we will wake up and see that the mountain is shrinking.
I am convinced that one major issue in Christianity is perseverance. We just have to keep trying and never give up.

Hi there, just wanted to ask. My mother is celebrating her 50th birthday, and we’re treating her to an out-of-town vacation. We’re going to do a devotion for the family (my mom, me, my two older sisters). What do you think would be a good topic for it? Just wanted to ask your opinion. Thanks! =)
January 10, 2012 at 11:36 am
Hi, I am humbled you would ask. What day is her birthday and where are you taking her? Give me some details if there is time so I can pray about it.
Your mother will be thrilled!

On the 13th and 14th of January we’ll be going to a resort in Batangas, here in the Philippines (relaxing, nature, has an organic farm – it would be great). Our older sister treated us. Her birthday is on the 14th.
January 11, 2012 at 9:54 am
Hi! I can’t believe this! My birthday is also January 14th! Do you think this is a God thing or what! I am just reeling with spiritual emotion at how amazing God is! I will celebrate with her! Please tell her Happy Birthday for me! There you are many many miles away and God has brought us together right before our birthdays!
What has come to my spirit is to make a list of all the wonderful characteristics your mother has. Name some specifically in a devotional way. In it describe how these attributes have made your life better. Remember moments in your lives where she made a real difference and have each one of you tell her.
From a mother’s standpoint, I can’t think of anything I would rather hear than to know that my daughter is walking with the Lord and that I made a difference in her doing that.
Hope that helps. If you wish and can I would love to see pictures and how this turns out! God bless!

I appreciate all your encouragement. I can tell you are an experienced blogger. I’d like to learn more about changing fonts and making my posts more aesthetically appealing. Do you have any suggestions on places to look to learn more about that?
Thanks, Dave
March 17, 2012 at 1:53 pm
Thank you Dave for your kind words! I have only been blogging seriously since October so there is still a lot I don’t understand. WordPress can be difficult and frustrating at times.
As far as I know you can’t change fonts unless you upgrade; I have tried that myself and it won’t do it. Now you can add the italics or bold print. I am sure changing fonts is one way they make money.
Without upgrading, I tend to change my pictures quite often and the background color since it won’t let me use it for anything else. The Theme you choose also has a lot to do with your options. I have debated changing to 20/10 because it does allow other backgrounds but to do so is a great amount of work re-adding widgets and info that won’t transfer over. Unfortunately wordpress has made it so to really be creative you have to upgrade not that that is a bad idea. I think to change fonts the upgrade is $30.00 a year.
Some general notes would be to make short posts, change the pictures often and maybe the theme. For me as a reader, I tend to read ones that are shorter due to time. The key is also to have a great Title.
Are you on Facebook? You can link your site to your facebook page if you haven’t already.
Personally, I like to read “about” the people who write the blogs. Have you checked your stats page?
Also adding widgets and uploading signs, or pictures is always a plus. I know to get on Freshly pressed which I would love to do you have to have a fantastic Title.
If you haven’t checked out the different themes that would be a great start and think of ways to grab the readers attention as soon as they hit your page.
Hope that helps some; wish I could offer more. If I think of anything else I will message you.
March 17, 2012 at 4:17 pm
ok – thanks for the ideas. I’ve had this site for a little more than a year. When I first started I was able to change some of the fonts, but then I noticed I couldn’t, so they must have cut that from my theme or something. Lately, I’ve been trying to learn more about blogging, so you suggestions are helpful. I like some things about the theme I have, but I wouldn’t mind being able to do more with it.
Thanks!

I wonder if your distaste for “The Deer Hunter” corresponds w/ your distain for deer meat? Blessings! Thanks for the ‘like’ – tim
April 5, 2012 at 8:06 am
I could hardly sit through the “Deer Hunter” but deer meat is ugh…..my husband loves to hunt….he and I have had major discussions of his desire to kill Bambi!
April 5, 2012 at 8:20 am
Good Morning N – I had to give you a new image of hunting. I’m an occassional ‘hunter’ that has never killed a deer. Instead, I go & lean myself & my rifle against a tree, smoke my pipe, eat snacks, & read. Friends love to imagine this as they (men especially) then wonder why I go if I’ve no plans to shoot a deer. Just a process of retreat I grew from childhood. Going w/ family (big hunters), I had to appear ‘hunter’ & would instead just go & watch deer … run away 🙂 Blessings! – tim
April 5, 2012 at 8:29 am
Well, you have me laughing! The hours my husband has spent sitting in a deer stand go way beyond the one he shot. He often falls asleep, eats snacks but won’t let me text him for fear it will chase the deer away. He bought “scent free” detergent and dryer cloths specially for his deer hunting attire. His gamut of camo is more than I can stand but his friends who are all big hunters prod him along.
Anyone who doesn’t hunt in this southern city is considered an outcast of society which includes me. My rantings to his hunting buddies about killing Bambi have gone without notice. It makes him happy and I have time to blog while he is gone!
