The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 28,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 6 Film Festivals

What if?

For Christians “what if” is not a substantial point of grace. So, “what if” we pretend to play “what if?”

“What if” our nation had a change of heart?heart

“What if” we had a different President?

“What if” we had warm, balmy weather year round?

“What if” we all won the lottery?

“What if” the prophets who have prophesied the future were correct?

“What if” the Holy Spirit touched the heart of our President?

“What if” the church began preaching what God meant for it to preach?

“What if” we changed our unbelief to belief?

“What if” all our prayers were answered immediately and accurately?

“What if” we woke up one morning and there was no coffee to drink?

“What if” the liberal lefties decided they had been wrong all along?broken coffee

“What if” we could change one thing in the world, what would you choose?

If you’re like me, the most important “what if” on this list is waking up without coffee.

Maybe that explains a lot. We trudge through our days as if that boost of java didn’t do its job.

Seriously, “what if” some of these “what ifs” actually weren’t “what ifs?”

Now is the time to believe.

Believe that you wake up to the aroma of Peppermint Mocha coffee brewing waiting just for you.

Believe your lottery winnings are the abundance of God’s provisions he promises us.

Believe the weather is a tropical island.

Believe the prophecies the prophets have given.

Believe the President has a life-changing conversion so obvious he only hears God’s voice.

Believe his change of heart is so real shocking the liberals into reality.

Believe he unifies this nation as God intended.

Believe he chooses to do the will of God only.

Believe God is in the business of doing the impossible.

“What if” these weren’t “what ifs?”whatif121

The Tyranny of Negotiation

Ahh….but the goodwill of conscience shall exceed excuse.

The path of duty has been lost along the way. There is no shame in taking that which doesn’t belong to you. Compunction isn’t even a deterrent anymore; why should it be? We all deserve what is ours…..as long as it is good?

Knowing what we really deserve is a key component to the argument.gratitude

Rationalization or negotiation may well inhabit a temporary goad of our conscience but sooner than later the truth will hit us. What we do with that truth is a definition of our character.

There is no excuse for wrongdoing. There is no crowd to follow or ladder to climb to bolster our ego of evil. The trepidations of believing what you wish will only land you in a mine of bombs waiting to be detonated. It might well be described as pursuing it even when you know it is wrong. Unfortunately for the ill deceived God isn’t in the business of bargaining.

Proverbs 10:2 “Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life.”

The makings of any “fiscal cliff” are based on procrastination, mismanagement and quite often a communication default.  But wrong policy will never replace the truth and neither will “I deserve this because I am who I am.” We all deserve hell no matter how much good we have done simply because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Negotiating with God simply does not work. He isn’t running a Bargain Basement.

It either is, or is not.

For all the reasons one may conjure up to reward themselves, it is a waste of time if it diverts the slightest from God’s truth. There is no peace for the wicked. (Proverbs 13:21) Peace is a non-negotiable entity; an irreplaceable, no-exchange reward. The peace that passes all understanding is priceless.

Potiphar (played by Ben Kingsley) in the movie “Joseph” says, “Joseph is free no matter where he is because of his God.”  How did he attain this freedom at the hands of his betrayers? How did he keep this freedom while imprisoned for 13 years in a foreign land?

Joseph knew his God. He understood what his God represented. He also knew God would never leave him.

Reading a blog post today by a 14 year old named Joshua caught my eye with these words he wrote: “See, when hard times come, we don’t really have to believe God is with us, so much as Christ has died for us.” http://goldenbible.wordpress.com/2012/12/29/knowing-god-is-near/

If we can wrap ourselves around the cross of Christ, his presence becomes a walk in divine peace.

The crux of the matter always gets down to one issue; Jesus.

Christ is the centerpiece; a central core or focal point for everything and everyone.

We all possess a conscience that God gave us. For a season you might be able to ignore it and end up resolutely with a very hard heart. That doesn’t mean the conscience cannot be re-ignited; it may take a bolt of lightning for some but so be it.

For many who deepen their conscience with truth, ignoring for a season becomes an extended, chronic pain or guilt only relieved by repentance.

Jesus climbed Calvary and finished the job he came to do. Thankfully he never stopped to re-think his position.

So why should we?

When you discover the freedom, the peace that comes with knowing all Jesus sacrificed for you, the reason for negotiation is non-negotiable.

It is love.martin luther king

A Box of Time

We are still here.My surprise

The world didn’t end.

So what do we do now?

Start over?

Wait for the next Mayan prediction?

Unless the truth is known, anything can seem possible. An end may have been a forfeiture of pain or agony.

A termination of this world could have been a relief for some. Or so they thought.

Somehow imagining no place to go from this place has the makings of a mental health catastrophe. If this is all there is, no wonder the world is depressed, forlorn and wounded.

There is no escape. No cure, zilch as far as anything to look forward to.apples

It is what it is. You make it what it is in limited time; and what is your amount of time?

Empty all your apples in as many baskets as you can find.

Fill your life; grab every opportunity; live it to the fullest. Fullest of what?

If you have the one shot here on earth you better make it good. Good for whom?

The thought of living in a “box of time” is about as unappealing as raw oysters. I hate oysters.

What if your particular “box of time” makes its own plans?

What if life as you know it all of a sudden, in a flash is changed forever?

Dream on.

I can’t remember ever a time in my life that “eternity” wasn’t available.

Sure, eternity at a distance but still eternity.

Knowing I have Eternity with God allows me to extend my thoughts and possibilities.

Rushing around to do everything, see everything or learn it all in a “box of time” isn’t on my radar. Purposely, I removed myself from the “rat-race.” It was either slow down, stop rushing or a pre-mature death was inevitable. Eternity will fill in where I leave off so why hurry?

It doesn’t have to be perfect.

It doesn’t have to be elite or special.

Jesus was born in a stable with hay and smelly animals.

His was simple; unpretentious and unassuming.

His claim to fame was a 4 legged donkey he rode in on as his grand entrance;

Hardly the picture of the Savior of the World or King of all.

He knew he had 33 years to do what he came to do on earth.

He also knew where he would be after the resurrection.

And he fulfilled his calling out of the purest love imaginable.mary

As many awaited finality; or an apocalyptic conclusion, what do they do now?

Maybe they will seek to find the one who will never give them an end.

The one who gives us life from one place to another with a new beginning.

It is called infinity. Eternity. Heaven.

He is Mary’s child.

Does your Cat listen to you?

Taking care of a wounded cat is comparable to that of a very small child.cat

48 hours after a rush to the hospital with a swollen, bloody face she thinks she is ready for another round with the “neighborhood bullies.”

I have no desire for another emergency trip to the doctor.

Doctor’s orders were to keep her inside at least for a few days. She evidently didn’t understand that order very well. She is feeling better now so why not go outside and play?

Standing in the doorway for the 3rd time, with her sad, swollen eye, she whimpers and gazes at me like a little girl who has been told to sit in the corner for being bad.

How do you tell a 10 year old, ex –feral feline she can’t go romp around in the cold?

Since I am not giving in to her simplistic intimidation she scurries upstairs where my husband is and screams at him.

While at the Vet I met their “clinic cat.” You know the stray that lives there. This particular feline had 3 legs. They found her on the side of a road after getting hit by a car. Her leg was so torn up the doctor couldn’t save it so he had to amputate it. The assistant told me within 24 hours of her surgery she was walking around without any notice she had lost a leg. I watched this cat run up and down the hall falling and getting right back up. In her mind, she was not handicapped.

Cats are resilient creatures. Ours is extremely healthy, but her “9 lives” were used up a long time ago. Her adventures and curiosity have brought her close to death, but the ability to bounce back quickly is a stunning characteristic.

But, they do feel emotions, pain and love just like humans.

As she has been recovering, it is apparent her need of companionship, care and concern for her plight.  Her comfort zone of our warm blankets becomes her bed of refuge. While I sit on the couch with this laptop, she walks right over the keyboard to lie down beside me. If I didn’t know better I would say she is jealous.

God made mankind in his image which is built on love. The core of life is this one emotion he granted to us to reciprocate with him.

Certain animals operate from this same love. Dogs are loyal, protective, and “man’s best friend.” Cats are singularly individualistic but show love by a nudge against your leg, a tail straight up in the air or the “purr” giving off an heir of complete peace.

God must have known we could learn a few good lessons from our furry friends. They fill our lives with joy, fun, laughter, responsibility, and notably companionship. They may have their own ways of “expressing themselves” but often they are better at it than we are. Obstacles of impression or modesty do not exist in their efforts to reveal their heartfelt emotions. Their innocence is spotless and simplicity of life is their breadwinner.

Proverbs 12:10 “A righteous man cares for the needs of his animals.”

That is God’s ordaining message to us. We are to treat animals with care and love. In return is a blessing of camaraderie we do not have with humans.

I have found sometimes I would rather be with my cat than other people! LOL!

An Advocate for “Nihilism?”

The description of “nihilism” has been thrashed about by well-meaning but mis-guided individuals who claim to know Jesus. As we sit back and do nothing but hide behind the facades of reality, we are pinned up on a cork board of the intellects of religious modernism.

The radical idea of our freedom to bear arms is a counterfeit to our pro-life stance; this written as they protest the evils of war as if to stand unarmed defenseless.

Maybe they should borrow David’s slingshot.  Didn’t he fight against the Philistine with God’s blessing?gun control

Had Israel not continued to fight, the lineage of Jesus would not exist. It is almost an insult to God to believe otherwise.

The following blog-post caught my attention last night. And then I exploded.

After this theologian of modernistic behavior or whatever he claims to be blatantly called out Governor Huckabee for his stance on guns, he twisted it around other issues.

How can you believe in guns and be pro-life?

How can you justify what that madman did?

He called those of us who believe “God has been taken out of schools” had nothing to do with what the shooter did, as “nihilism.”  In other words a façade to cover up the real issues; or ignore them such as “Gun control.”

Luke 22:36 “He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

He seems to like that word “nihilism.” He defined the 1980 Secretary of the Interior as one for his “lack of interest in environmental concerns since Jesus is returning soon.” What?

This was the kicker. “Christians who believe in Pro-life yet glorify in the culture of death, worshipping the altar of violence and pledge allegiance to arms” and so on and so on. His words are sickening.

Iraq Air Force

He had the wrong person read that post. My fierce guardianship and protection of our Armed forces will not allow me to keep my mouth shut when one such coward spews his hate for those who gave/give him the freedom to speak!

His jugular points are nothing but notably negative deceptions; he has postmarked many Christians into a “box” full of useless paper ads. To be honest, I am not sure which side he is on.

His barrage of defilement towards Christians is somewhat questionable; especially to one who may be secular. The use of the words “many” or “refuse” or “versions” of Christianity he displays would do nothing more than confuse a non-believer.

However, it is indisputable his efforts to claim Governor Huckabee as a gun-toting, bomb throwing junkie who happens to be a Preacher on the side. I am no Preacher, but he may as well add my name to his list of Huckabee wanna bees…….as he so specifically spelled out we sanction for preemptive wars, and remain quiet as we drop  bombs on innocent people.2nd amendment

To ease my infuriated soul while writing him a nasty reply, I cordially and “largely” invited him to come to our Air Force base. Spelling out the necessities of our heroes who have and do fight daily for him to spew his anti-military hate, I advised him we do live behind a bomb site. I thought he needed to be aware that I have confiscated some of those unused bombs to do just as he said; drop on innocent heads…I won’t say it.

As an addition to my speech to Mr. Snider I made it clear how safe I feel living here. I can only imagine the amount of ammo/weapons stashed.

His agenda that most Christians are “environmentally challenged war mongers” is not in my Bible.

So, where did he get his Theology? It must be “nihilism.”

P. S.  He was referenced by the LGBT community for his support of Gay rights after a speech he gave August 13, 2012. I guess he hasn’t read Leviticus 18:22 “You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.”

And the Nation stood still….

There is a sense of community that has been born that wasn’t around last Thursday.teddy bear

The nation stopped in its tracks all of a sudden Friday.

Sitting in church yesterday, you could feel it.

“Quiet” swept the room as the Pastor revealed the front page of a newspaper that read, WHY?

He set the stage with the verses from Psalm 72:1-7

Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.

May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.
May he endure as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.
May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
like showers watering the earth.
In his days may the righteous flourish

Fairness in Jesus is not the same as the world’s view. Based on “righteousness”  or doing that which is good, results in good. Jesus performed many miracles due to his righteousness. What does that say?

When “unrighteousness” is prevalent, evil will prevail.memorial service

It matters who you follow. It matters who is in charge and what they represent.

If a leader has abolished the truth, so will his people leaving doors open for the battle to rage on.

King Solomon wrote these words with God almighty as his leader.

Our Pastor gave 3 specifics regarding these verses:

1: God will give justice to the afflicted.

2. God saves the children; all of us who follow Jesus are his children. We are all needy.

3. God will crush the oppressors. No tyranny has reigned forever. Evil only lasts for a season.

True justice is found only in Jesus. The cross redeems all wrong, hurt, pain or loss. No evil can remain because of what Christ did on the cross.

In a court of law, fairness/or justice is used according to evidence that is weighed. The balance of impartiality is tried.

The reason evil occurs is we are in the middle of battle. Good and evil are fighting against each other; and for those of us who know Jesus, we know how it all ends.

God knows what it is like to lose a child. The choice as it was, remained with Jesus as he determined to walk up that hill and be the sacrificial lamb for us all. And he had no sin. He was righteousness in human form.

The non-believers will never understand the existence of God because it is based solely on the cross.

Questions will rise and fall as time passes. As believers we don’t need to know everything because no matter what the evil, justice was served at the resurrection. When Christ died, it was finished; every possible wrong doing was redeemed.

As the world stood still absorbing what could not be absorbed, Jesus was hanging on the cross again for 26 people who were unjustly taken in the middle of a tempestuous conflict.

Therein lies the answers, the grace and mercy God extends to everyone.

Jesus gave his life for us, and that is what makes it fair.

Chaplains respond to Elementary School Shooting

December 14, 2012 – The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has deployed 10 crisis-trained chaplains to help provide emotional and spiritual care in the wake of Friday’s horrific elementary school shooting.
