Seeds of Deception and God’s Intervention

Orlando has had a rough week to put it lightly.

My heart aches for the loss and pain. My prayers are for God to show up and love those left behind. God’s word says in Psalm 34: 18-19

spirit

This works because it has in my own life.

The loss of so many souls to a 2 year old child dragged away into a lagoon, one has to wonder when it all will go away.

Psalm 34 revealed the crushed heart of David. His cries to God were of one who had been pierced by such grief he felt he couldn’t bare life anymore. Unfortunately, many are in that same place. Part of David’s depression was from his own sin. The guilt had overtaken his spirit. The failures had become overwhelming. The desire to make it right again with God, had become his future. He knew though, he couldn’t do it alone.

America needs to be in that future that David fought for.

I have read where demonic forces tend to migrate to certain areas where evil waits openly and without much resistance. Mark 5 speaks of the demonic man who lived among the tombs, chained and subdued only to break them with his bare hands. “Legion” was the demons name and fell down before Jesus as he approached.

You heard that correctly. The demon spoke to Jesus.

“Legion” was afraid of Him. He knew his fate at the hands of the Savior. Jesus cast “Legion” out of the man and told him to go and tell the people what God had done for him.

The scene is explicably evil. A graveyard. Tombs. Chains. Screaming. He even cut himself with stones. What was missing?  Jesus Christ.

The townspeople stayed away. They feared the evil would grab them and do a repeat performance.

Evil breeds evil just as it did with this man. Who knows how he had gotten to this point. Who knows how this demon entered his soul and lived there? Who knows how long he had been demonically possessed.

The slippery slope of deception is one that contains evil where the demonic forces can live without being bothered by Jesus. If they feared Jesus so much they begged him to send them into a bunch of swine instead of into the abyss, then what does that say about today?

It says Jesus can and will do the same today as He did then.lewis

But, we are expected to avoid evil at all costs.

The townspeople avoided going to the graveyard.

The townspeople didn’t want to live like this demon possessed man.

The townspeople knew the end result was death.

We should heed this story.

Don’t go where evil lurks. That is not to say that bad things don’t happen to good people but don’t open the door for the devil to simply walk in and take over.

God expects us to be wise and use common sense in what we do, where we go and what and who we involve ourselves with.

If God tells his people to go into evil then He protects because He has a plan.  “Doing it our way” is rebellion and God is limited in guarding us.

For those of us who know Christ as personal Savior and Lord, we are to be Jesus to those who don’t know Him.

We are to walk in love yet speak the truth.

We are to exhibit His character along with standing firm in and on His word.

We are to extend mercy and grace, since He certainly extends it to us but with the sense to live knowing the difference between right and wrong.

We are to walk in humility as a light to shed on the darkness surrounding so many.

We are to be compassionate, caring and concerned for those in need and are hurting offering to pray for them for an intervention from God.

The one thing I have never found in the Bible, is that Jesus was not a doormat.

John 14:27 (Amplified)

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

Truth is Truth and Sin is Sin

In all stances there are adversarial contexts and diversions. But truth is truth and it is the resolve no matter what.

There is no other book like The Bible. It is also the most misinterpreted book ever written. The only way anyone can really understand it is by having and cultivating an intimate and personal relationship with God.

Admitting some stories like the Fall of Jericho, Jonah getting thrown into a whale and talking donkeys could cause questionable thoughts, there is none more controversial than Jesus’s conception. However, believing in God truthfully will deliver anyone from the lies and deceptions written about them.

It is beyond my belief the Supreme Court would actually take our money, time and effort to discuss the basis for marriage definition. Read the Bible.

As this debate heats up professing, knowledgeable Christian’s twist the Bible’s definition that marriage is between one man and a woman.

So is the case of an article by Rebecca Todd Peters titled, “Biblical Marriage is not what you think.”

Her background and education should warrant that of one who gets it; she doesn’t.

Literally speaking she has taken the Biblical contexts of how people were living in adultery, committing vile acts with the same sex and portraying Sodom and Gomorrah as a definition of marriage.

Sure the Old Testament is full of adulterers, concubines, and polygamy; that doesn’t mean God approved. It also doesn’t mean those who sinned sexually didn’t suffer the consequences. They did. We are. Just look at the aftermath of Hagar having Ishmael. Centuries and millennia later the war is on between him and Isaac. It has never stopped. Yet Ms. Peters would have you think it was a willing notion of God to approve. It wasn’t. And he still doesn’t.

David took his best friend’s wife then killed him. Not only did their first born die as a baby, David suffered terribly afterwards for his sin.

Solomon took the cake when it came to wives and concubines. If for no other reason trying to keep so many women happy would be enough to be married to one.

I am not making light of this. My theory as to why God allowed the Bible to include such sin is to show the sin and reveal the consequences that followed.catholic_bible

Just because the prevalence of sexual sin is noted, does not mean God approved of it any more than he did of thievery, murder or lying. Sin is sin.

As far as the Supreme Court taking up this issue, the truth still remains they do not get to define marriage any other way than God’s way.

Any action has been taken by those who wish to live as they choose, suing others who disagree with that lifestyle and pushed the agenda down our throats.

Since sin is sin, why not have all the murderers push to change the laws by allowing people to murder without punishment?

Why not do the same with liars? Cheaters? Idol Worshippers? Rioters who destroy and injure others?

The list goes on and on. No matter the sin it is lawlessness. And with lawlessness comes death. And God is in the business of giving life.

Ms. Peters got her article printed in the Huffington Post. She gives credence to evil as if it is a right just as the fight for marriage is being argued in the Supreme Court. Her credits and education must give her the notoriety to write such garbage. But it has nothing to do with her training. It is her political correctness opinion along with her own misinterpretation of the Bible.

As far as I am concerned the Supreme Court has no right to touch this issue much less vote on it. It has already been established by God.

And God doesn’t change his mind.

What are you watching? Listening to? Reading?

In a recent edition of “Decision” magazine, Franklin Graham wrote an outspoken article on the entertainment industry in America titled,

“Hollywood: Entertaining ourselves to death?”

After living many years in the hometown of the Graham’s, Franklin remains a household name.  I worked with a man for 12 years who was in the same class as Franklin growing up.

Not only him, but many others who knew the “rebel” he was saw him giving his parents a hard time as a teenager into his early 20’s. However, he is now using that “rebellious overtone” to speak bluntly and candidly about issues facing our nation his father preached against for decades.

Like, Franklin I remember when there was no cussing, sex and very little violence except for a few John Wayne shootouts and The Rifleman. Good always won over evil but nothing was ever an embarrassment to watch with anyone else.

Trying to explain that to the generation of young people today is like helping them understand how we lived without cell phones and computers most of our lives. It is incomprehensible.

In the article he quoted Michael Landon who died many years ago after his efforts to keep TV/movies clean and child accessible.

“Let’s face it, television is an invention where you’re entertained in your living room by people you wouldn’t have in your house!”

Landon, speaking at a roast for Dean Martin was applauded with shameful grins.

There is no need to exacerbate the unlimited vulgarities played out on the screens today because we all know them.  As garbage goes in, garbage goes out. In the process it filters through our brains leaving trash sloshing around for the enemy to use. And we wonder why we have nightmares.

The ill -fated, sick delusion of Hollywood has laid upon our nation a reputation certain leaders in other countries want no part of.  Christian artist Natalie Grant walked out of the Grammy’s due to the Gay/LGBT community takeover of this awards show. Mandisa didn’t attend and won two awards. Threaded with the Gay implications and nuances throughout the show was a huge maneuver of control by this group.

A number of well-known actors such as Kevin Sorbo, Kirk Cameron and Gary Sinise have made their stance clear against homosexuality. An addition to the Gay agenda are any actors speaking out against the Obama administration. The latest fatality has been James Wood. He spoke that he now believes he will never get another acting job due to his conviction. And he is not alone in the “black list of fallen actors.”  Kevin Sorbo recently revealed the number of offers for him has greatly diminished.  So much for being qualified.

(An interesting side note about James Wood. He has an IQ of 186; higher than Einstein. And he has a story about flying on a plane a month before 9/11 in which there were 4 Middle Eastern men who he later found out were planning the attack; 2 of which were on the planes that evil day.)

The “Decision” magazine also had an article about the Ugandan President who signed an Anti-Homosexuality bill on 2/24. President Yoweri Museveni has been outspoken about the split his Ugandan church made from the Anglican Church of Canada 10 years ago over this issue. An Ugandan Archbishop stated, “homosexuality is incompatible with scripture.”

President Museveni has been criticized from Western leaders such as President Obama over certain remarks he has made and I quote:

“We have been disappointed by the conduct of the west, the way you conduct yourselves there. “

Having been told the Ugandan’s must abide by this stance he answered unequivocally,

“That’ where we say no.”

President Museveni was interviewed by a CNN reporter who asked him if he personally dislikes homosexuals. His answer,

“Of course. They’re disgusting. What sort of people are they?”

Setting the Record Straight

On the heels of A & E suspending Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty for speaking the truth, I would like to reflect on this decision.

He spoke his opinion to a magazine interviewer that had nothing to do with the network Duck Dynasty is a part of. For his opinion he has been relieved of his job.duck

This is more than a direct violation of Free Speech. It is the bias of many in the entertainment industry to spin off any who don’t agree with their beliefs. As this mushrooms, it will be interesting to see if A & E truly support the Gay community when it comes to losing this show and all the money it makes for them.

The divisiveness is due to misunderstanding of what we who follow Jesus believe and the perception of those who disagree with it.

The Bible has a clear stance on homosexuality. It is an abomination to God; it is a sin. (Leviticus 18:22)

The Bible is gender created; male and females. No one is or was born homosexual. No one evolves into a different state of being or humanity. It is a choice one makes.

The choice is no different than choosing to drink alcohol, smoke, lie, cheat, gossip, etc.

The perception has been that those who choose to live such a lifestyle believe that we who disagree with it are bigot hate-filled intolerant hypocrites. A few bad apples in any group doesn’t speak for the majority.

Not only do I have friends and family who have made this choice, I have treated them with respect and shown them nothing but love. I do not agree with their lifestyle, but they are people created by God just like I was.

However, due to this Biblical commandment anyone choosing to become Gay don’t want to be considered wrong or to be sinning. Like other sins, having to dis-avow homosexuality would require change most do not want to accept.

Throughout history homosexuality has occurred but resulted in devastating consequences.

The person who chooses to drink alcohol or smoke on a daily basis will at one point have to decide whether to continue. It comes down to how much they value their life because both are death wishes. But this occurs with any sin.

The alcoholic or drug addict, the compulsive liar or gossip will reap the penalties of their abuse. Whatever the sin, there will be costs to endure.

As far as choosing to be gay, one must first realize it is a sin. Denial isn’t  a “river in Egypt” and won’t give anyone a free ticket to do anything against the will of God.

denial

denial

The Bible is the core of determining the difference between good and evil; right and wrong. Whether a person believes in it or not, doesn’t matter. It is kind of like saying, “I don’t believe in war.” That doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

It is the same with God. Just because a group of people choose not to believe in God or do his will doesn’t mean it doesn’t apply to them. It does.

The truth is the Gay community or those who support them have taken what the Bible says and turned it around to make Christians appear to be that which we are not.

The “Phil Robertson’s” of the world who speak the truth are actually the ones who are sharing love.

He represents many of us who are willing to risk losing everything to tell the truth if it means one person finds Jesus.

1 Peter 4: 8 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
