Law? What Law? (Part 4) “The Rulers of this Age”

Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy making wise the simple.”law or grace

Perfect words written by an imperfect man. A man who became King and messed up big time.

The lineage of David would bring about the Messiah, “The Lamb of God.” His coming was prophesied more than once in the Old Testament.

The birth of Jesus came along at a specific time and place as God ordained. How he came up with the schedule is anyone’s guess.
However with it came the writing of the New Testament.

The event marked history bringing with it correction of the Old Testament laws. God ushered in through Jesus the only way evil could be defeated.

For many doubters understanding God came down from Heaven and became a man through a virgin birth is ludicrous. But the blood had to be “holy and pure” and that could only come from God himself.

1 Corinthians 2:8 speaks of how the “rulers of this age” didn’t understood the wisdom of God. If they had they would never have crucified him. In a word God “duped” the enemy.

Many today believe everyone is under God’s wrath or judgment. If that were true Jesus would be dying over and over for our sins even for those who have accepted him.

Romans 8:7 “The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law nor can it do so.”

Those who reject God also reject his laws which is where his wrath and judgment appear.

Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

History completely changed when Christ was born. 33 years later his death and resurrection became the focal point of our existence.

The depth of what Christ did for us is unseen by many which is tragic. Not only did he save us from “hell” he gave us himself.

What does it mean “he gave us himself?”Christ is the end of the law

When the Stove is on Fire…..

Are you a klutz?

Do strange things happen to you?

Do you wonder why life is one big puzzle?

Are you always waiting for the next crisis?

If so you aren’t alone. Around the next corner lie broken dreams, sprained ankles and job loss.

The current misery is one step closer to the next misery. We live in a fallen world in case you haven’t noticed. If you haven’t noticed what is wrong with you?

If you haven’t noticed do you know something the rest of us don’t?

Some people seem to glide through this life’s complications on another planet if you know what I mean. You know, the friend who gets lost crossing the street yet they hold down a 6 figured income job? Ugh…..scatter brained?

Others keep a roster of the ups and downs written on the foreheads as if to keep count.

Many simply fall apart losing control and give up. Giving up is easy: getting up off the floor and starting over is hard.

Or…The one who gets hit from all sides never knowing what was coming.

Escaping the perils of human existence is not easy, but not impossible.

Is the frenzy of theatrics preventable? Is there any hope to deflect the confusion and trepidation of the enemy?

Do you believe for one minute God hasn’t already figured that out?

Instead of waiting for the crisis why not try to divert it from ever coming near you?

In fact we should be thanking God regularly for the ills, disasters and mess he prevents from coming our way.

Prevention is always the best method. Why do we put God on the back burner running to him only after the stove is on fire?

Why not run to him first?

After all he is the Creator of the Universe. The Almighty. The Great Physician, advocate, teacher, comforter,
leader, know-it-all of all things good to list a few. Etc. Etc. Etc.

God’s companionship is a cure all for many afflictions, pains and adversities. The ease of his character, love and awesome traits over time will transform even the most hardened criminal. Resting in his friendship, care and comfort can alter and purify the difficulties we face before they arise.

Philippians 4: 6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The presence he offers can side swipe the storms; avert the disturbances and redirect the violent blows to our souls. His quiet but strong spirit is more than capable of conquering any enemy before it attacks.

A conscious decision to place God first, sit in his presence, praying and meditating on his words every day can change the course of history.

And your personal drama.
