You wonder how you got where you are.
It wasn’t anything you asked for; it was forced upon you like a ton of boulders falling from a cliff.
You had no way to stop it or so you thought. Now, you’re on a ledge waiting to be found.
The darkness is like a black hole. And it smells like death.
You’ve lost count of how long this “abyss” has lasted.
Where are all those people who supposedly cared? Why don’t they rescue you?
And where is God? Why hasn’t he shown up?
All alone and forgotten, climbing out isn’t an option. There are no escape routes or steps.
So far from everything and everyone, crying or screaming is futile. God must be deaf or simply not listening.
If this is hell, then why are you there? Didn’t you accept Christ as your Savior?
Thinking out loud always helped.
This can’t be hell; it isn’t hot. Musty, dirty with some rabid creatures running around, but it isn’t even warm…….what is this place?
The depths of misery show up in different sizes, forms and have no time clock. Seasons pass as you lose all awareness of life. It can’t get any worse. You were taught to never give up but at this moment hope is lost. So what is the point?
Do you see it? Is it what you think it is? Don’t take your eyes off of it or it might go away….
Where did it come from? Has it been there all this time?
IT IS A LIGHT! A DIM GLIMMER, BUT A LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL!
Focus on the flicker, the glow and maybe it will shine brighter or get closer.
Does this mean there is hope? This deep chasm is finally ending?
If you have experienced the agony of an enduring pain or the equivalent to the “Gehenna,” then a glimmer of hope becomes your lifeline. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, around the corner of tormented nothingness is a flame that won’t burn out.
That distinct moment you choose to give it all up, the flame becomes a bright light. Reaching for the polished radiance the light becomes a guide out of the depths of grief and affliction.
Directing your path is the one who is the way, the truth and the life. (John 14:6)
Shepherding is his job.
Protection of his sheep down to the last one is his goal.
He is the Chief Shepherd. (1Peter 5:4)
The Door. (John 10:7
Overseer. (1Peter 2:25)
He is the One True Light (John 1:9)
And yes, he was there all along.
