The Martha Syndrome: “Me too. There is so much to do for God. We just have to keep busy doing the work of the Lord.”
The Kingdom Believers: “Have you thought about how getting to know God would change the world? He is more interested in a personal relationship with us than all of our busy activities working for him. God can do what we can’t, but prayer and communion with him will bring about the supernatural workings of the Holy Spirit through us. That is what is needed to make a difference in the hearts of people. It is the only way to stop or prevent the enemy from his rage and attacks. Once you get to know God for who he really is, love for him is overwhelming. You will want to get involved and stay involved. You will hunger for Jesus that can’t be matched by anything else.”
3 different views of following Jesus
The Observer is a classic example of getting in the gate. Remaining clear of the details of following the Messiah is paramount. Fear that God will send them to some foreign country to be a missionary or a remote part of the earth keeps them at bay. The Observer is satisfied living the life of a Christian from a distance.
The Martha Syndrome has become the church. When Jesus visited sisters, Mary and Martha of Bethany, it was evident they both loved and admired him but in very different ways. Many Christians today have taken the work of God to a whole new level. Burnout of activities from being asked to serve the Lord has superseded the relationship resulting in the Martha Syndrome. Martha couldn’t sit still while Jesus was in her house. She was worried and upset that Mary sat at Jesus feet listening to him intently instead of helping in the kitchen with the dinner meal. We are not built to serve God in our own physical strength; we need the Holy Spirit and that is only achieved by quiet time alone with him on a daily basis.
The Kingdom Believers are the seekers of God who choose to be in his presence and experience a deeper intimacy of his love as an ongoing, 24/7 lifestyle. The relationship becomes tangible as if to touch the heart of God by abiding quietly in him. Giving God first place; allowing the Holy Spirit to enlighten the spirit within the seeker to fill them to the core with the supernatural. This stirring of the soul to find God in every hour and minute of the day is active and sincerely resonating all over the world. This small group is in preparation for the harvest in the making.
Matthew 9:38 “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
God’s army of disciples must come out of the Kingdom. Seasoned Christians full of the Holy Spirit who have sacrificed their time to be alone with God instead of accomplishing that which comes from the flesh.
The need is to identify with Jesus by letting go of a self-centered existence and become the expression of the Savior. The more we know Jesus, the more we become like him. His presence brings about a stirring in our souls unattainable anywhere else.
We have a battle that is raging into a war.
God is calling the “survival of the fittest” of his sovereign crown to fight for lost souls to bring them to the cross of Jesus.
Do you hear him calling?
