Is There Really a God? Prove it

The question exists with many. Is God real? How do you know he is God?

So doubt it. What else is there to believe in? Aliens? Nothing but Science? Google Earth?

For me, I never doubted God existed. It was more he got in my way for a while until I needed him.  Then he really became real.  Funny how that works.

Human nature is not all that great. Actually, I could do without it if it would go away. Try convincing others who question his validity his validity.

  1. Those who have never known God existed may see other gods or vision of some extra-terrestrial being who is supposedly a supreme being.
  2. Those who believe God exists, yet pay him no attention.
  3. Those who doubt due to growing up in a Christ centered family and never challenged Christianity with other religions. Before surrender they seek to find out benefits of anything other than Jesus.  The range determined could be from drugs and alcohol to Buddhism.

So how does one go about proving the existence of God?

How about the proof of God’s existence far outweighs his non-existence?

Or God questioned Job, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Who marked off its dimensions?  Who stretched a measuring line across it? What were the footings set upon? The cornerstones? “

Job may have wanted to shrink back in his chair.

Then God spoke again,” Have you ever given orders to the morning or shown the dawn its place?  Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep? “

JOB:  “umm. Can’t say that I have.”

GOD: “Have you entered the storehouses of snow or hail?  Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain? Who fathers the drops of dew?  Can you raise your voice to the clouds or send lightning bolts on their way?  DO THEY REPORT TO YOU, HERE WE ARE? “

JOB: “ugh. No.”

God continues his rant through the 39th chapter of Job ending it with the following:

“Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”

Job is left somewhat speechless. Who wouldn’t be?

The terms in these conversations between God and Job make one wonder how we have the audacity to interrogate the Creator of the Universe about anything much less his Creation! Who are we to examine where he was in the beginning of time or if he really is God?

Anyone who has been given the opportunity to learn about God has no excuse; yet, excuses for not knowing God exceed those that do.

Even with our egotism and smugness God extends his mercy and grace over our excuses.  We live in our arrogant and pretentious little corners believing we entered this world knowing it all.

Excuse me, we are far from self-sufficient.

How many of us have laid the earth’s foundations? Or given orders for morning to appear? Do we walk on the recesses of the seas or control the weather?

Do any of these creations answer to us?

If you woke up this morning, maybe you should consider how that happened.

  1. this is a good post. so many want proof before they believe. We are a nation who wants to see or feel something, yet when we are proven over and over that God is real, some still want even more proof. and in the end some got it but still refused, when it is too late.

  2. We have the proof of God’s existence all around us in nature. The sad part is there are many who will not accept this proof and will actively blind themselves to natures revelation of God. That is where their trouble begins….

    For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things….
    And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
    (Romans 1:18-32)

Sorry for the long text but i felt it went right along with your posting. Lord bless you Cathy.

    • I appreciate your insight Pastor Barkman. Those words from Romans I read many days because the unbelief seems to be veiled. My hope and prayer is for God to give me the words to say to those around me who venture into this dark realm opening their eyes and hearts to the one who truly loves them.

  3. I believe in God because a man relied on a spiritual gift and spoke a word of knowledge to me, revealing my plans for committing suicide. No one knew my plans except God. Had he not done that I would have killed myself and ended up in Hell.

So, because of my salvation experience I always try to use the spiritual gifts or pray for atheists and unbelievers in such a way they will know God is alive and cares about them. I have seen people healed and other miracles happen.

Jesus used miracles, signs, and wonders to reveal Himself to people and what He did then, He will do now.

    • It may be easier for one who has never known God to reach for him. It is the ones who grow up in a Christian home that tend to stray more and then question everything they ever learned about God.

      • “…After it [the gospel] was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.” (Hebrews 2:3-4)

It’s a lot easier to demonstrate the gospel than it is to argue with scriptures.

  4. First of all, I love the above picture. 🙂

My life is an example of a living, loving God. I think some people make the mistake by believing that if there is tragedy-there is no God. Personally, my faith is greater because of many of the hardships. There have been some miracles in my life that could not have otherwise occured without a God.
I don’t know why people don’t believe, but I do know why I do and that’s a gift that I treasure and try to share everyday.

    • Thank you and you should go to Freddy’s website and tell him; I use a lot of his photos in my blogs with his permission. Like you, I find it hard to understand how people don’t believe or see God’s truth, but then I remember “I was blind, but now I see.” For the most part that arrives during the hard times as you said, or not without seeking God regularly. But there are those who choose to debate, ignore, confuse or continue to question mostly I think because they don’t want to change, when if they knew the outcome they would start immediately! Your blog about rising is going to link to the one I am writing now; it is perfect!
