Try God: Identifying the Enemy (Part 1)

For the first time since I started blogging 2 years ago, God has led me to do a series.

Years of reading the Bible, study and prayer have literally transformed me. I am not at all where I want to be, but left where I was. The amount of wisdom and knowledge God has is infinite. Just when you think you have finished college and there is very little left to learn, the galaxy opens a door you missed.

Christian television has been smeared with scandals, fraud and fallen preachers. However it is one avenue of God’s vision the enemy detests. Even with fallen men or women of God, they are and can be used to bring people to the cross. If it were not so, the Bible could not have been written. The list begins in Genesis and ends in Revelation of followers of God who failed and failed miserably. Adam and Eve blew it from the start. Moses killed a man. David and Solomon had a common sin of lust. Peter denied Christ 3 times after getting to know him. Paul, well Paul was the worst hypocrite as a Pharisee yet believed the Laws of God if broken commanded one to be shackled and beaten. This in no way diminished the fact the laws they wrote (man-made) could not be followed. It was impossible.

Surfing TV not long ago I saw a man, Mel Bond who I had never heard of. He was on a Christian show speaking of how to discern spirits. Watching I was enthralled by every word he spoke. Afterwards I ordered 3 of his books; one of which I just finished because I couldn’t put it down and the Holy Spirit prompted me to finish it. The name of the book is “Understanding Your Worst Enemy.”253028_10151504703081718_1456976426_n

The urgency in which this has occurred, is because God wants his people to understand why the world is in the heated mess it is in. His other reason is because we are in the midst of the enemies wrath; his time is running short and he knows it. Therefore he is taking his hate of anyone who follows Jesus out on those who are getting “too close to God.” Why?

Satan is afraid of anyone who knows and uses the Word of God. Hell is terrified of it. The weakest Christian can defeat Satan with the Word of God.

Yet we have fallen for every fear, worry or doubt he throws our way, we have run with it giving him another edge to making us miserable and remaining there.

He can get into our thoughts giving us one lie after another.

He keeps tabs on those who follow Jesus so he will know how to attack them.

He repeats his attacks over and over because we haven’t stopped him.

He is cunning, sly and devious. Subtlety is his measure of entrance. The area he is most dangerous is blinding people to the truth.  Many today even Christians do not believe he exists; and that is exactly what he wants.

He is capable of creating evil and chaos. He perverts the truth, and uses the same tricks on us that caused him to fall.

He is very real and is on the warpath.  Do not for one minute believe otherwise. He is not playing games.

But we have authority over him with the Word of God. James 4:7 “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Learning years ago how blind I was, my determination became to remove the blinders off of my eyes and heart.  As I have studied the Bible and often been beaten down by some of my closest friends and relatives for speaking the truth I have become more and more aware of his fiery darts.  He has blinded people I never thought were blinded.

Satan hates the truth of God which is why it is more important than ever that we know God’s truth and use it.

As I continue in this series I ask that you read another series by my good friend and blogger Larry Who. His latest work on “Spiritual Warfare” actually added to my inquiry into how to authoritatively tell Satan to get lost. If you are like me, you want him out of your life. After you read Larry’s blogs, get this book.    http://larrywho.wordpress.com/

One note about this book before I get to the next part of this series. After I began reading “Understanding your Worst Enemy” I looked up to see when Mel Bond had written it. The copyright was 1992.  I thought he wrote it yesterday.

1 Peter 1: 3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”

  1. If we as Christians were truly emulating Christ…were truly obeying Christ’s Command to love our neighbor in the same way we love ourselves…our behavior would way outshine any scandels or anything. This is what the enemy hates more than anything…and what he wants more than anything to get us to not do – to be as Christ to the world. He knows that actions speak much louder than words….but, church people don’t want to. They want the easy route….so the devil loves it. He has us running too and fro, and trying this and that, so we stay defeated and frustrated because we are not bearing the fruit we want to bear.. But why should people believe us when we have not shown the credibility to back up our words…I mean, being as Christ to them? If we began acting like we actually believe and have the love we talk about….wow! So, yes!! Spiritual warfare….however, then after he has been put down…what then? We must accept Christ’s invitation to yoke with Him and learn from Him….so it is then we can bear much fruit for the kingdom and then find rest for our souls.

  2. Can’t wait to read what you share!
