Establishing the enemy’s history we are able to understand more how he operates.

Revelation 12: 12 “Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you. He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”

Does that verse sound like today? Maybe so, but Luke 10:19 also says, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

Snakes and scorpions is referring to demonic or satanic powers. God has given us his word to use against him and his immoral and disgraced hellions. They tremble and flee when we exercise our God given right to speak the word of God which is why it is so important to know what it says and how to use it.

The enemy knows when we are 99% or 100% against him.

James 1:8 “He is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.”  We must remain completely and totally submitted to God. Reading his word, meditating on it daily and praying will keep us close to God.  There are times when we must act on the word speaking it out loud telling the enemy to leave. But don’t think for one minute he won’t try to return or send one of his beastly villains to do his dirty work for him.

An interesting note made by Mel Bond in his book, “Understanding your Worst Enemy” is he and his wife discovered a pattern of sin geographically.  As they traveled in their early ministry from state to state they both noticed certain problems were prevalent in one state that weren’t in another. For instance, one state was big on tobacco. They saw young children on the sides of roads smoking cigarettes. Another state was built on pornography; yet another gambling.  Others were specifically into prostitution or alcoholism and drugs. This phenomenon established people in addictions that were meant to destroy them. What did this mean?

Satan has demons who specialize in certain areas of evil.  By observations these spirits were stronger in different locations. This may account for why 3^rd world countries are impoverished through famine, aids or floods.

As these evil spirits strive to impose themselves on people, their greatest goal is to make us what they are.  Anger is a spirit which leads to the spirit of hate. One step at a time they make their entrance to steal, kill and destroy. We must stop them.

We are overcomers through the word of God and his presence.

John 15: 7-8 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

The best way to overcome the enemy is to get and stay close to God every day. Persistence and continuity with Jesus will aid in protection from him.

Now, we who know this must proceed to expose him. But first, we have to get Christians to believe he exists.
